Large Vintage Railway Clock

A classic 'Gent of Leicester' electric wall clock believed to have come out of a railway station / factory in the north of England.

Gent were master clockmakers throughout the 20th century and hit their stride in the 1940s/50s. Their handsome unfussy styling was a hallmark of railway / factory clocks that graced platforms and factory walls up and down the country during the halycon days of steam travel and manufacturing i.e: late 40's / early 50s.

The perpetual movement works a treat, all the fixtures / brackets (on the rear) are in good order as are the electrics which have been updated and are suitable for standard 13 amp fittings - hardly uses any electricity.

The face is illuminated and throws out a terrific glow. Is suitable for outdoor use. The case shows the odd sign of weathering but there is no rust and it only adds to the appealing patina of the metal case.

All in all a terrific clock, recently overhauled and in great working order - would make a great centrepiece in a large lobby/office/restaurant/hotel space.
